Property Management Consultant Property Management Hamilton Central

With a strong financial background, enthusiasm for investments and marketing nous, moving to property management provided Liz the perfect opportunity to utilise the considerable expertise built over her career so far.

“I was drawn to property management as it combines the three things I really enjoy: working with a wide variety of people, investments, and marketing.”

Liz started her career working for an insurance broker before moving to New Zealand in 2018. After working in roles with ACC and SBS Bank, she had the drive to get back into the investment world and went for an opening with Lodge City Rentals.

Before moving into the position of property manager, Liz managed Healthy Homes compliance for Lodge’s clients, ensuring all homes are up to the standards and managing suppliers to achieve this.

“I’ve had some lovely feedback from our Lodge suppliers, as I aim to make their jobs as easy as possible, so they enjoy dealing with me. I present all the information required upfront, so there’s no to-and-froing between us. But equally, I’m not afraid to get on the phone and sort out any issues.”

By its nature, this role afforded Liz a solid understanding of the regulatory requirements landlords must meet, which she now uses to advise her investor clients.

Relationship building is key for Liz, whether it’s with owners, tenants, or maintenance suppliers. “Being easy to talk to and approachable is crucial for my relationships; I actively listen when conversing with people and really aim to put myself in their shoes. It’s quite cliché but true, as it means I can really offer a personal touch for my owners or tenants.”

As a current tenant herself who loves her rental property, Liz enjoys matching tenants to properties that are right for them, so they get the same feeling she has. “I believe the happier the tenants are, the better they’ll look after the property, which is the best outcome for owners as well.”

Getting the job done with minimal fuss is Liz’s modus operandi. “I think action and try to always be proactive. It’s much better to be diligent, stay on top of any issues, and be a step ahead, than trying to work backward and put out fires.

“I’m not inclined to leave tricky issues unsolved. I’ll work to get an answer or solution that works for all parties involved, within the given deadline.”

When not busy looking after clients’ property investments, Liz enjoys traveling, playing golf, and reading.
